Homestead Exemption

The deadline to file for homestead exemption in Florida is March 1st. 

If you purchased your home on any date between January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023, you may file at any time before March 1st. If the property has been purchased jointly, each individual must apply separately except in the case of married couples, who are able to apply together. 

When filing the application, you will need to present proof of ownership (copy of deed) and proof of permanent Florida residency (voter registration, Florida DL, Florida vehicle registration or permanent visa.)

Property owners who had homestead exemption in 2023 will be automatically renewed for 2024. If you have moved and are transporting your homestead exemption, the same deadline applies.
